Project Mountaintop was originally authored by Inclusive Guide co-founder Crystal Egli, while working in the marketing department for Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Originally drafted to provide a recipe for diversifying their marketing efforts with intentionality and purpose while avoiding performative tokenization, Crystal quickly realized that this how-to guide could have a greater impact if the document was allowed to be freely shared with other organizations.
